학비
연 ~$8.2k
The gap between the two rates on one page is the useful part: a foreign student pays roughly a seventh more than a Malaysian for the same kitchen. Aviation and beauty training were not priced — see the account on the country page.
생활비
31.7% (미국 물가 대비)
A comparison of prices, not a budget: it says what things cost here against the United States, not what a month will cost you. Compared at country level, so capital cities and large metros run higher. The price level prices the basket residents buy, and a foreign renter cannot reach the cheap end of local housing — poorer countries may still sit too low here.

A diploma is outside the post-study pass that degree graduates from 23 countries can use, so the nationality question that governs the university page does not arise here — nobody qualifies either way.

Sunway University publishes an international rate for its two-year Diploma in Culinary Arts beside the Malaysian one — USD 8,198 a year against RM 33,000 — and says the dollar figure is indicative and billed in ringgit. It is one institution. Berjaya University College, whose hospitality school is the other name a foreign applicant meets, publishes no fee on its programme page at all, and Le Cordon Bleu’s Malaysian fee page returns 404. The previous figure, $9,000, cited “Malaysian culinary and hospitality academies” without naming one.

World Bank, 2024, CC BY 4.0: the PPP conversion factor for household consumption is 1.4492 local currency units per international dollar, against an official exchange rate of 4.5764 to the US dollar. Their ratio, 0.317, is the price level against the United States, whose own ratio is 1 by construction. Both figures are theirs; the division is ours. See the Pathoff method, section 12.

Pathoff outcome rubric (the Pathoff method, section 10-3), special outcome band "A route that needs an employer": Hospitality and culinary work requires an employer to sponsor an employment pass. Re-checked in September 2026 and the band holds, with the reason sharpened: the Graduate Pass that gives degree graduates twelve months to look for work is for degree graduates, so someone finishing a diploma has no post-study route at all and the employer is the only door. That is this band rather than the one below it, because the door is open — Employment Pass category II starts at RM 5,000 a month and the sector hires foreigners.

A diploma is outside the post-study pass that degree graduates from 23 countries can use, so the nationality question that governs the university page does not arise here — nobody qualifies either way.

여기는 어떤 곳인가

Malaysia has a serious hospitality and culinary training sector built around its tourism industry, priced far below European academies. It is a good place to get credentialed cheaply; it is not where the prestige is, so it works better as a first qualification than as a career-defining name.

절차는 이렇습니다

1

Choose an accredited academy

Check the qualification is recognised by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency before paying anything.

⏱ 2–6 weeks
2

Student pass

Sponsored by the institution, same route as a degree.

⏱ 4–8 weeks
