TuitionNo data yet

No figure recorded. No published fee schedule for a Korean vocational or specialist institution charging international students could be confirmed at tier 1 or tier 2, and the tier 3 material described universities rather than vocational colleges. See the Pathoff method, section 14-5.

Pathoff judgement directed by evidence, not computed from it: the country’s position comes from the World Bank household consumption price level for 2024 (0.640 of the United States, CC BY 4.0 — the ICP benchmark carried forward annually by the World Bank’s own method); the US reference budget is ours. See the Pathoff method, section 12.

Field reputationInternationally credible

Pathoff education rubric (the Pathoff method, section 9-2), special band "Internationally credible": Korean training in aesthetics, culinary work and game and entertainment production is recognised well beyond the region by the industries that hire from it. Mid-band because the recognition attaches to the country’s output rather than to named schools.

Industry accessThe job-seeking status reaches this far, the work visa still needs a match

Pathoff outcome rubric (the Pathoff method, section 10-3), special outcome band "A route that needs an employer": Judged on its own. Unusually, the job-seeking status is open to holders of an associate degree from a Korean institution, which covers the vocational colleges — that is why this sits at the top of the band. It stops short of the band above because the qualification confers no right to work and the employment visa requires an occupation that matches what was studied.

What it is like here

Korea has turned several trades into exports: aesthetics and cosmetics training, culinary work, and the game and entertainment production that the rest of the world now hires from. The job-seeking status reaches associate-degree holders, which is more than most countries offer a vocational graduate. What is missing is a published price for foreign students at the vocational institutions.

How the process works

1

Check the college awards an associate degree

It is what makes the job-seeking status available afterwards.

Timing not confirmed
2

Korean language first, in most cases

Vocational colleges teach in Korean and usually require TOPIK level 3 or higher.

1–2 years

Where the training is

Gangnam, Seoul
The aesthetics and cosmetics industry, and its training
Pangyo
The game studios that hire from the production courses
