A comparison of prices, not a budget: it says what things cost here against the United States, not what a month will cost you. Conestoga College publishes its international tuition by credential type for two terms — one academic year — for 2026-2027: CAD 15,477 for diploma and certificate programmes and CAD 16,809 for a graduate certificate. The degree rate of CAD 16,933 is not here, because a degree is not what this ingredient prices. The previous figure was CAD 17,446, described as "about CAD 17,446 giving access to most of" a CAD 15,844–28,697 range. Neither number is the college’s: the range is an aggregator’s compilation across programme pages, and 17,446 was a point chosen inside it. The college’s own page publishes three flat rates and no range at all.

World Bank, 2024, CC BY 4.0: the PPP conversion factor for household consumption is 1.2409 local currency units per international dollar, against an official exchange rate of 1.3694 to the US dollar. Their ratio, 0.906, is the price level against the United States, whose own ratio is 1 by construction. Both figures are theirs; the division is ours. See the Pathoff method, section 12.

Pathoff education rubric (the Pathoff method, section 9-2), special band "Internationally credible": Canadian animation, culinary and technical training is recognised well beyond the region by the industries that hire from it, and one animation school in particular is a name the field knows. Mid-band because outside a few programmes the college sector is domestic in reputation.

업계 진입The same open permit — if the field qualifies

Pathoff outcome rubric (the Pathoff method, section 10-3), special outcome band "A reliable route into the trade": Judged on its own. A college graduate gets the same open work permit a degree holder does, with no employer and no sponsorship — genuinely rare. Held below the degree score because non-degree graduates, and only they, must have studied a field on the government’s eligible list: since 1 November 2024 a diploma, certificate or post-graduate certificate qualifies only if its programme code appears on that list, while bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral graduates are exempt from the requirement entirely. Re-checked in September 2026 and unchanged, with one thing worth knowing for anyone planning: the department confirmed in January 2026 that the list is frozen for the year, so no field will be added or removed from it before 2027.

The field-of-study requirement applies to study permits applied for on or after 1 November 2024, and the list itself was cut and partly restored during 2025.

여기는 어떤 곳인가

Canada is one of very few countries where a college diploma leads to the same open post-study work permit a degree does, which is why its colleges recruit so heavily abroad. The catch arrived in November 2024: for non-degree programmes the field of study now has to be on a government list, and that list moved during 2025. Choosing the wrong programme costs the entire route.

절차는 이렇습니다

1

Check the field against the eligible list first

For a college programme this decides whether there is a post-study route at all.

소요 기간 미확인
2

Apply to the college and take the study permit

The same permit process as a degree, under the same provincial allocation.

Not money that is handed over. It is shown, and the department says in terms that it does not include tuition or transport. The department says the amounts are updated each year.

The department’s own proof-of-financial-support page, which prints a table headed for all provinces and territories except Quebec: CAD 23,448 for one person for applications made on or after 1 September 2026, rising to CAD 62,054 for seven and CAD 6,318 for each further person. Search summaries were still giving the previous year’s CAD 22,895 when this was read.

보유를 증명해야 하는 금액 · One person aged 18 or over. The published table runs to six and then adds CAD 5,254 a person

Quebec sets its own and it is the higher of the two. It also covers different ground: the ministry lists health and hospitalisation insurance among the things the amount is for, while the federal figure names tuition and transport as excluded and says nothing about insurance. The ministry adjusts its amounts on 1 January, so the two figures on this page are not only different sizes but on different clocks.

The Quebec government’s temporary-selection-for-studies page: CAD 135 for an international student from 1 January 2026, on a page which says the fees are adjusted on 1 January of each year.

Every amount here is published as a number, so none of it had to be written as a rule instead. The one thing that is a rule is the schedule: both authorities say they revise their figures every year, on dates four months apart.

Two authorities publish these and they do not agree, which is most of what this block records. The federal department sets a cost-of-living amount for every province except Quebec and updates it each September; Quebec sets a higher one, covering slightly different ground, and updates it each January. A student going to Montreal meets both, the provincial certificate first and then the federal permit.
