No figure recorded. Tier 1 and tier 2 were both tried: the US State Department fact sheet for the Uruguayan American School renders its fee table in a font that could not be decoded, and the school issues current amounts to applicants rather than publishing them. The only figures available were from 2020-21. See the Pathoff method, section 14-5.

For scale, that 2020-21 sheet showed US$10,900 a semester at grades 6–12. It is five years old and is not used as the figure.

Pathoff judgement directed by evidence, not computed from it: the country’s position comes from the World Bank household consumption price level for 2024 (0.729 of the United States, CC BY 4.0 — the ICP benchmark carried forward annually by the World Bank’s own method); the US reference budget is ours. See the Pathoff method, section 12.

보호자 비자A parent can settle on income alone

Pathoff outcome rubric (the Pathoff method, section 10-1), early outcome band "Partial or conditional access": No dedicated guardian status, but the rentista route grants permanent legal residence to someone with stable income from abroad, which a parent can hold in their own right. At the top of the band because the route is permanent rather than temporary; short of the band above because it is not a parental status and no minimum income is published.

여기는 어떤 곳인가

Uruguay is the safest country in South America by a wide margin, politically stable in a way its neighbours are not, and a parent can obtain permanent residence on income alone. What surprises people is the price: on the World Bank price level Uruguay is dearer than Spain or Czechia, and Montevideo’s international schools publish their fees to applicants rather than to the public.

절차는 이렇습니다

1

A parent applies for legal residence

The rentista route needs proof of recurring income from outside Uruguay, certified by a notary.

6–18 months
2

Ask schools directly for current fees

Montevideo’s international schools do not publish fee tables.
