Two Turkish state universities, both of which price international students in dollars and bill the lira equivalent at the central bank rate a week before payment. METU's 2025-2026 table charges students who started in 2023-24 or later, per semester: 1,200 USD for architecture, engineering and the physical sciences, 800 USD for sociology, psychology, history and philosophy, for economics and administrative sciences and for education — a median of 1,000 USD a semester, so 2,000 USD a year. Boğaziçi's table for undergraduates admitted under the international student quota in 2025-2026 charges 5,000 USD a semester for engineering and for economics and administrative sciences and 4,000 USD for science, humanities and social sciences, education and law — a median of 4,000 USD a semester, so 8,000 USD a year. Recorded at the median of the two, 5,000 USD a year. The two disagree fourfold; that is not an error in the reading, it is what the two universities publish.

Pathoff education rubric (the Pathoff method, section 9-1), degree band "Locally solid, externally unknown": The degree works in the Turkish labour market and is recognised across the region, and a handful of universities are known beyond it. At the top of the band; outside the region a Turkish qualification needs assessing.

Turkish state universities charge international students a few thousand dollars a year and living costs are among the lowest on this site. The problems are on the way out: there is no post-study route at all, employment requires an employer to obtain a work permit, and the degree needs a credential assessment outside the region.
