Tuition~$21k/yr

Individual published figures for the International School Nido de Aguilas, Santiago: US$20,900 a year for K2 to Grade 12 and US$11,400 for the early years, plus an annual registration fee of US$1,500 and a one-off incorporation charge of about 350 UF. The school does not publish its 2026/27 schedule, so these are the most recent figures available.

Pathoff judgement directed by evidence, not computed from it: the country’s position comes from the World Bank household consumption price level for 2024 (0.493 of the United States, CC BY 4.0 — the ICP benchmark carried forward annually by the World Bank’s own method); the US reference budget is ours. See the Pathoff method, section 12.

Pathoff outcome rubric (the Pathoff method, section 10-1), early outcome band "Partial or conditional access": No guardian status, but temporary residence for retirees and people with periodic income is a published category open to a parent, with dependants included and permanent residence following. High in the band because it needs no employer.

What it is like here

Chile is second in South America for peacefulness, has the region’s most functional institutions and a genuinely good health system, and a parent can obtain residence on periodic income. Two things to weigh: Santiago is not cheap by regional standards, and the international school market is small and priced in dollars.

How the process works

1

A parent applies for temporary residence

The retirees and periodic income category is applied for from abroad under the 2021 migration law.

4–10 months
2

Get a RUT on arrival

The tax number is what unlocks banking, health cover and school enrolment.

Where families cluster

Santiago (Las Condes, Lo Barnechea)
The international schools and the Andes at the end of the street
Viña del Mar
Coastal, milder, a smaller school market
