What it is like here
The dual apprenticeship system puts trainees in a company from day one on a training wage, with the qualification recognised across the labour market — the inverse of paying an academy tens of thousands. The barrier is blunt: it runs entirely in German, and you generally need working German before anyone will take you.
How the process works
Get your German to working level
This is the real gate. Most training places expect solid conversational German before application.
Find a company that will take you on
The company, not a school, is the sponsor — the training contract comes first.
Apply for the vocational-training residence permit
Granted on the basis of the signed training contract.
