Beyond it the routes are employment, business or family, then permanent residence after five years. Mid-band because what looks like an open door is deliberately a revolving one.

What it is like here

The digital nomad permit is one of the better-known in Europe: a year in the eurozone, on the coast, working for clients abroad. Read the design though — it is capped at twelve months, cannot be renewed back to back, and does not count towards permanent residence. Croatia built a route for visitors who stay a while, not for people who settle. Health cover, once you are in, is the least out-of-pocket on this site.
