Pathoff outcome rubric (the Pathoff method, section 10-4), residency band "Work, family or business only": Temporary residence on employment, business, study or family grounds has been among the simplest in the region, renewable in one-year steps with permanent residence after three years. Mid-band, and no higher, because there is no route on income alone, and because the law in force from August 2026 introduces annual quotas by category and an investor track whose thresholds have not been published.

Pathoff healthcare rubric (the Pathoff method, section 13-2), band "You buy your own, and it is affordable": There is no functioning universal scheme; care is bought, and Yerevan’s private clinics are inexpensive, quick and good enough that the country treats patients from its neighbours. Mid-band because the standard of care is genuinely decent and most serious treatment is done here, and no higher because essentially nobody is insured.

What it is like here

Armenia gives most nationalities 180 days a year without a visa, which is an unusually generous look before you leap, and Yerevan is cheap, sunny and easy to like. Two things need saying plainly. The immigration law that took effect in August 2026 puts annual quotas on residence permits and its numbers are not yet public. And four fifths of all health spending here comes straight out of people’s pockets.
