Tuition~$26.1–27.4k/yr

Pathoff judgement directed by evidence, not computed from it: the country’s position comes from the World Bank household consumption price level for 2024 (0.481 of the United States, CC BY 4.0 — the ICP benchmark carried forward annually by the World Bank’s own method); the US reference budget is ours. See the Pathoff method, section 12.

Pathoff judgement, no rubric yet: placed against the other countries here from general knowledge of the international-school sector. Under review — see the Pathoff method, section 9-3.

Guardian visaThe parent’s employer is the whole answer

Pathoff outcome rubric (the Pathoff method, section 10-1), early outcome band "Partial or conditional access": No guardian status; a parent holds an employer-sponsored residence card and sponsors the family onto it, or holds the investor residency at a threshold most families will not meet. At the foot of the band because the whole arrangement rests on one employment relationship, and Omanisation rules narrow which jobs a foreigner may hold.

What it is like here

Oman is the quiet Gulf: sixtieth on the peace index, a third cheaper than the UAE, with a Muscat international-school market that publishes its fees and teaches in English. The catch is the same one the whole Gulf has — a parent’s residence is sponsored by an employer, and Omanisation policy makes that sponsorship harder to obtain every year.

How the process works

1

A parent secures sponsored employment

Residence in Oman is sponsored; without an employer or a large investment there is no basis.

3–8 months
2

Sponsor the family onto the residence card

Family joining requires the sponsor to meet a salary threshold.

1–3 months

Where families cluster

Muscat (Al Khuwair, Madinat Qaboos)
The international schools and the expatriate community
Salalah
The monsoon coast, green in summer, with a much smaller school market
