Vilnius has two English-medium international schools and so has no tier to exclude; both are used, and they differ by a factor of two. Vilnius International School charges €10,755 a year through Grade 10 and €11,880 at Grades 11 and 12, a median of €11,317.50. The American International School of Vilnius charges €21,908 at Grades 6 to 8, €23,584 at Grades 9 and 10 and €24,349 at Grades 11 and 12, a median of €23,584. Recorded at the median of the two schools, €17,450.75 a year, secondary only. The spread between them is the city's real spread, not a sampling artefact.

Pathoff judgement directed by evidence, not computed from it: the country’s position comes from the World Bank household consumption price level for 2024 (0.570 of the United States, CC BY 4.0 — the ICP benchmark carried forward annually by the World Bank’s own method); the US reference budget is ours. See the Pathoff method, section 12.

Guardian visaNo parent route; one parent must qualify alone

Pathoff outcome rubric (the Pathoff method, section 10-1), early outcome band "A guardian must be arranged": No residence purpose exists for a parent accompanying a school-age child. The family route runs from a parent who already holds a permit to the child.

What it is like here

Lithuania is twenty-fourth for peacefulness, costs about half of Western Europe and has built a serious fintech and laser sector in a country of under three million. The limits are scale — the international school market in Vilnius is essentially one school deep — and the same absence of parental status the whole region shares.

How the process works

1

A parent secures a residence permit

Employment, business or the startup route.

1–3 months
2

Apply early; the market is small

One international school carries most of the demand.

3–9 months

Where families cluster

Vilnius
The international school, the fintech employers, and the old town
Kaunas
Cheaper, more industrial, a growing technology sector
