Tuition~$1.8–2.3k/yr

North South University publishes a per-credit tuition of BDT 8,000 for every bachelor programme, effective Spring 2026, plus a BDT 25,000 admission fee and per-semester lab and activity charges. A standard full-time load of 27 to 36 credits a year puts annual tuition at BDT 216,000–288,000, or about $1,760–2,345 at BDT 122.8 to the dollar; the load is the one assumption here, since the university publishes the rate and not an annual total. BRAC University’s international page is quoted at about $1,758 a year, which lands in the same place. Re-read attempted and half finished: the University of Dhaka publishes its own foreign-student rate — USD 100 a credit for non-SAARC nationals against USD 50 for SAARC, over a 150-credit degree, plus USD 100 a year in departmental development fee — but BUET’s foreign-applicant notice refuses connections, so there is one university and not the two this metric asks for.

Pathoff education rubric (the Pathoff method, section 9-1), degree band "Locally solid, externally unknown": The degree works in the Bangladeshi and regional labour market and the engineering university has a genuine reputation in South Asia. Mid-band: outside the region the institution is unknown and the qualification is assessed from nothing.

Pathoff outcome rubric (the Pathoff method, section 10-2), degree outcome band "A route you cannot plan around": Graduation confers nothing; a work permit is granted through the investment authority to an employer, and the rules cap foreign employees as a proportion of the local workforce. Above the floor because permits are issued routinely to the export and development sectors.

What it is like here

Bangladesh’s private universities teach in English, publish their per-credit fees programme by programme, and cost about two thousand dollars a year in a country where a student can live on five hundred a month. The research base is stronger than the country’s reputation suggests. What is weak is everything after graduation, and the health system you would be relying on while you study.
