Georgia

The one place a parent can simply stay for a year without asking anyone.

Tuition
~$24,900/yr
One school — QSI Tbilisi, the only fee in this market published by a government source. It is an American-curriculum school and probably sits at the top of the local range, so the market median is unestablished and likely lower. Earlier figures of about $3,200 and $16,480 appear to have been the capital fund fee and an aggregator blend rather than a K–12 tuition.
Living
~$1,800/mo
Family of three, all in, excluding fees. Compared at country level, so capital cities and large metros run higher. The price level behind it prices the basket residents buy, and a foreign renter cannot reach the cheap end of local housing — poorer countries may still sit too low here.
Guardian visaRecently changed
A parent can stay a year visa-free
Nationals of roughly 95 countries may stay 365 days per calendar year without a visa, so an accompanying parent needs no status at all. This turns on the passport, and it is a stay rather than residence. Since 1 March 2026 working requires a separate permit, and from 2026 entry requires health and accident insurance of at least GEL 30,000.

Tuition~$24,900/yr

US Department of State school fact sheet for QSI International School of Tbilisi, read from the published page: "Tuition is $6,200 for PreK and $24,900 flat for elementary, middle, and high school." The 2023–24 edition of the same fact sheet gives $24,000 for K–grade 12 plus a $3,200 annual capital fund fee and a $300 one-off registration fee, all in US dollars.

Pathoff judgement directed by evidence, not computed from it: the country’s position comes from the World Bank household consumption price level for 2024 (0.395 of the United States, CC BY 4.0 — the ICP benchmark carried forward annually by the World Bank’s own method); the US reference budget is ours. See the Pathoff method, section 12.

What it is like here

Georgia solves by accident the problem every other country on this list makes hard. Citizens of around 95 countries can enter without a visa and stay a full year, so a parent accompanying a child is a matter of buying a ticket rather than qualifying for a status. That is a real advantage and it is worth naming plainly. Against it: the international school market is small, the sources on what it costs disagree by a factor of five, and we could not judge school quality at all. Safety is also the weakest of any country here.

How the process works

1

Check your passport gets the full year

The 365-day visa-free stay is nationality-dependent and runs per calendar year, not per entry.

Timing not confirmed
2

Arrange insurance before travelling

From 2026, entry requires health and accident cover of at least GEL 30,000 for the whole stay.

3

Choose a school

The market is small. Visit before committing; we have no basis for judging quality remotely.
